I was sitting in the parking lot of the Bangor Mall last night waiting for my roommate to get back from buying his Star Trek magazine, when I started thinking about just this topic.
I noticed the slightly raised part of the door panel where the power mirror switch is located. Perhaps relocating the power mirror switch and putting the tweeter there might work. The right one would go in the same approximate place on the other door panel.
The only problem I can think of is imaging, i.e. the left one is closer than the right. Thoughts?

Kickpanels will solve your imaging and flush mounting problems. Speakers in the kicks sound so much better because the frequency response and output level from both sides of the car to the listening area is better matched than the other ideas listed here. Plus it looks much more professional and smooth than taping the tweeters somewhere. Just my .02.
