just wondering as I can't find the info on this, I have a '97 SHO with the push button a/c controls, not the knobs, am I stuck with the factory deck, or does someone make an adapter for this?

stuck with it. Only option is to relocate the radio into the glovebox or ashtray (both ways look like a$$ IMO) or custom fab your own plate housing the eatc and a DIN opening.

are the climate control heads with the push buttons interchangable with the ones that have the knobs?

In a word, no. There is a thread about how to make a CD player work with the auto climate controls. I'm on my phone right now but ill look for it later. Search auto climate control and CD player and see what comes up. Seems like the thread dealing with that wasn't too long ago.

i put mine in the arm rest part. IMO that's the best place so far...

i did have it under the dash below the steering wheel didn't get in the way but was hard to use. it was fine when i did it with the first radio i owned cuz i had a remote, the 2nd one i had didn't so that was no good. that's when i moved it to the arm rest!

I have pictures of mine. Some think the ash tray location looks bad, I prefer it. I put it in the console, then made a EATC/DIN opening (which was a waste of a "few" hours time) and finally cut my ash tray up and put it in there. With my hand on the shifter, where it normally is, changing the stations, songs, input is easy.

Now I need to buy another one, as I had a guy try to steal the Eclipse and failed because the shifter was in the way. So in a way, it's a theft deterrent too :)

ether why it might have stopped him from stealin the stereo but in the end did he damage your car tryin to get to it.

to me i would rather leave it easy to steal so my car dont get beat up when they try!

is it one of thos eclipse that have the cd code deal protection(if it loses power you have to have that cd or send it in to have it reset)

I would not leave a $350 radio and make it an easy steal. He broke the ashtray plastic, big whoop.

Yes it is a protected radio.

but he might break that 350 radio. i guess if he still dont get it, it could make you feel better the he didnt get it and you just have a broken radio. ether way you would be out a radio. i would rather it be easier for them to take then to break thing trying to remove it...

to each there own i guess.

If some dirtbag broke my radio, but still didn't get it in his hands I call that a win.

Now if he would have broken the shifter + stolen my radio, I would have been fully upset.

I was able to move the electronics from the radio/climate control and moved them under the center console in a project box. The heater controls are still in the stock location. Once this was done I was able to cut a standard mounting hole and mount my radio there. I still need to go back and build up face since it is round and the radio is flat.
