Ok I have read that if you have wear on your intake that you need a motor mount. This true because I have shiny spots on mine. Would a bad motor mount make my car hard to shift? How hard is it to put in? Or I should say how long would it take a mechanic to put it in?

I have at least a bad front mount on my car, and the shiny spots on the intaketo prove it. You might mave bad mounts or they were bad and someone replaced them. Pop your hood, start the car and do a few short back and forths. The motor will tilt away from you in reverse if the back one(s) are bad and it will tilt towards you in any forward gears if the front one(s) are bad. I think that's right, it might be vice versa. Either way, if they are bad the motor will tilt quite a bit.

i replaced my front mount and found that it was much easier to shift after the new one went in. its hard for me to say exactly how long it will take though, because i did it in freezing temperatures and took many breaks to warm up.

if it's your front mount that's bad, it's not all that difficult to replace. you need to remove the lower radiator hose and the mount is right behind it. remove the nuts and bolts, jack up the motor a little bit, make the switch, and put everything back together.

if it's the back mount, i've heard that you need to drop the subframe which would take a lot more time and effort.

EDIT: btw, i did that front mount as a 16 year old, so a mechanic shouldn't have any problems.

you dont have to drop the subframe to do the rear mount. i did both mine at the same time and if your front one is bad ill put money on it that your back one is bad also or going bad. in my opinion the back one was easier then the front one.

Could I possibly just look to see if it is busted, or should I just do the test (startin it and moving it a little) and are these pretty serious or can I wait a little to get them fixed.

just do that test by driving the car its probably much easier and you probaby wont be able to tell. If the engien tilts abnormally then its bad. And yes I would replace them asap you dont want your engine rocking around in the engien bay, it can cause more damage by doing that. Think of maybe connections or brackets that can break and think of what your exhaust is doing when it tilts like that.

Is there just one in the front and one in the back?

Yes, two motor mounts, one front and one rear. There's also a transmission mount but has nothing to do with the engine.
