I got an estimate on getting my struts replaced on about crapped my pants. $1000 isn't kewl in my book. I usually do all the maintenance on my SHO but I've been leary of struts because of the spring compression horror stories I've heard of. So, I've got a couple questions.
I've never done a strut job ever. If I buy the Quick Struts is there anything more to the repair then taking out the old units and installing the new assembly? If so, I may give it a go. Right now they're running a deal where if you buy (2) quick struts you get a $50 rebate. I can get all four units shipped for $554 so if you knock $100 bucks off that and one weekend thats well worth the $550 I'll save by doing it myself.
I realize after looking through the forums that most people go with the specialty struts/springs but I'm not looking to make this into and over the top sports sedan. This is my nice weather toy and all I want is to bring back some of the factory ride so that I can ride in comfort. My car has 175k on and the ride is horrendously rough so pretty much anything is going to be an improvement.
Opinions?
