monroe quick struts

Anyone ever tried these? Appearently they're a fully assembled strut with mounts and all. They use a sensa-trac strut appearently too. O'Rileys has them for $169 each for the front and $160 each for the rear.

Those make me think hard about re-doing my suspension...

yes they are a sensatrac strut but just so you know it is not a Moog spring...all it is is some generic coil spring(i asked the Monroe rep myself personally)...we have these in stock at my work and i will admit it is a good idea,cuts labor time in half if not more...but it remains to be seen how these will perform in our cars...

The Sensa-a-traks are a poor product. Mine began to leak three weeks after install. They are always noisy when cold and are certainly not a performance strut. They are an economy strut for a passenger car, and nothing more. Even if they have a lifetime warranty, how many times do you want to keep changing your struts when they begin to leak?

Just a word of advice, spend the dough on KYBs or Tokicos. If you have a modified suspension, go with Tokico.

Plus, if you're going to be spending that much, go with Moog Cargo coils that are a bit lower than stock and KYB struts, wich are much more performance oriented than Monroe.

Moog coils (4): $150
KYB struts (4): $280

Both are available through Midwest. Wish I had done that for my SHO.

You'd save a bunch dough, too.

KYBs are junk on the Taurus. ive never known a Monroe Sensatrac to get any kind of bad review. i dont know where you get your information, but there will be many who differ with your statement.

Moogs: $120 shipped
Tokicos: $400 shipped that what i paid.

I've gotta agree with DHMag....I have had KYB's GR-2 stuff in the past, and I was unimpressed....they are at best equal to Monroe Sensa-Tracs, and IMO seemed worse from a performance standpoint. KYB's higher end lines are good quality and a good value, but unfortunately they don't make them for the Taurus.

I have TRW (same as Moog) coils and Sensatracs all corners. No problems and it rides firm. One downside is the jacked up frontend lol!

Yes, MANY. The Monroe Sensatrac is a fantastic strut, and millions of vehicles are riding on them.

ALL of them? Either you had an issue with install, or it was a simple warranty issue. These are lifetime struts. And who said they were performance struts?

Funny.

Fact:

Ive been running my sensatracs with Moog CC springs (known to be a tad stiffer than eibach coils) for over 30k now.

No leaks.
No noises.
No failures.
Still functioning as they did 30k ago.

I couldnt be happier.

KYB struts with stock springs are a very nice option, the problem is that so many people try to use the KYB's with Eibach or Intrax springs which is definitely not a good match.

Pretty basic:

Lowering/performance coils require performance struts to provide enough dampening.

One strut leaked a couple of days after install. Two more began to leak after that one was replaced.

I've experienced Monroe struts on a multitute of vehicles, none of which I liked.

Maybe I'm just spoiled by the good stuff, but I would never purchase another set of sens-a-craps. They cannot perform the way I need my vehicle to perform in my hometown and can't take a hit from a single pothole. To me, that's a poor product. It's too generic because it is engineered as a universal strut for many vehicles. Bleah! Opinion? Perhaps, but it's based upon what I have personally experienced in both use as a customer and servicing vehicles with sens-a-trac applications.

To all those the Monroes have worked for, great. They've yet to work for me.
