I received my monroe quick struts today and they look great
On the front the spring coils on the original Ford have (5) coils and the monroe has (8)
The rears Fords have (7) coils and the monroe has (8)
$509.27 to my door, rock auto w/ a 5% off online coupons includes freight and with the $80 rebate my total cost will be $429.27
The fronts where easy, (thanks shoforum), about 20 minutes off. But the rears where a little harder.

Go to Rockauto.com and search.

Hi, my car also needs struts and I'm considering Monroe Quick Struts. I am wondering what the difference is between the

171781 and the 171780...

Is this front and rear?

Here's a few links to the exact parts...

They certainly look different. I'd have a friend install them as I'm not the most mechanically inclined. What would I need to show up at his door with?

Thanks,

Winston

Any chance you could provide before and after ride height pics? How stiff are the springs? About stock?

Ok update I finally got the done! Fronts where easy, be careful not to pull out the front axle shaft, just move up and down
The rears where a *****, all the bolts broke easily but the RH rear tie rod end that connects to the frame the threads stripped, (found out later you dont even have to loosen!) but no one had a 14 mm thread chaser so I used a file and it worked!
Also much easier to remove the upper seat belt housing and the (2) torx to get at the far back 13MM nut in the trunk cause I stripped it! What a pain! Had to go to sears to get the bolt out strip kit, (sears number 52166), but what a pain and still had to remove the seat belt upper bracket! It took alot longer than I thought and I replaced the rear shocks/ front struts on my 86 300ZX last winter.
I had everything back together and was waiting for the mail to deliver my (4) new pinch bolts from: http://keystonepowdercoating.com/sho.htm
And I cant say enough about them and Scott-thanks
Anyway mailed showed, (Scott mailed them even before he received my check!), and it all went back together and feels great!
Looking back the racketing open end wrenches where nice and the new Monroe Quick Struts feel great. The old one where 19 year old Ford factory originals.
Oh as I was grabbing the (2) old struts I put in one box I tripped in the garage and got a nasty large lump on my elbow-probably deserved it for all the cursing I did the night before!

Ok Iam confused now. What quick struts can I put on my 97 SHO?

The Quick Struts for the 96-99 Taurus will work but the SARC will no longer work.

It is possible to get teh SARC struts but just at $200 each roughly.
