I was really hoping to pick it up today, but they need to attach the mesh to the surround, so I have to wait until Monday. I'm hoping to find time to get it installed and snap some pictures with my new dslr. Also going to the strip tomorrow. If it's a slow day I will get a bunch of stock, stage2, and stage 4 runs for comparison.

Cool, Bill. Can't wait to hear about the runs. G/L

Steve,

I'm not planning on adding any badges; i want to actually remove all the taurus/sho badges.

You might want to check out the photos in this thread:

http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=117119

It shows some pictures of how we changed the rear of our cars. Also there is a post that links to a thread by bpd 1151 that explains how to do the changes to the rear. Didn't know if you had seen this thread or not. Hope it is of some help.

I saw that thread when you posted it, I like your look! Honestly, it's just not for me. I want to have the sleeper look from the back

I removed the ecoboost from the SHO emblem and it looks so much better. There's a couple people on here who have done the same and posted pics. If you just want to remove it just take some fishing line and you will have them off in 30 seconds.

Sweet! Do any marks remain after you remove the badges? Can I remove the SHO/Ecoboost and Taurus emblems with the fishing line?

You will have leftover tape. I used a paint cleaner on a cotton applicator and it removed all the tape. You could also use goo gone as well. Some people have said they used a plastic scraper, but to me I wouldn't want to scrape anything on the paint. I used 8lb test and just move it up and down as you pull towards the lettering.

Thanks for the advice!! I really appreciate it. I'll let you know how it goes once I give it an attempt

I used 4 pound test FireLine and it went through mine very quickly, but as Bill said there is a fair amount of tape residue left on the car. I am not a big fan of using any chemical that is not supposed to be used on a car's finish, so I used Adam's Polishes Revive Polish/ Paint Cleaner to take of the residue, followed that by cleaning the area with some Adam's Brilliant Glaze and finally a coat of wax. It's a little more work, but I knew I wouldn't hurt the finish using any of those things. I'm betting Meguiar's or Mother's Paint Cleaner would also remove the tape residue.

wax and grease remover is perfectly safe. But as with any solvent you never want to leave it sit on paint for prolonged period of time, and the same goes for polishes and some waxes they have solvents in them to. As I am a paint professional and know what a paint job can handle. I used PPG DT870 wipes that tape residue off like butter.

Alright good people..... enough thread jacking.

Stick to the topic of the thread in all due respect to the OP.

Trade your info via PM, or transition over to an already created thread more suitable to your discussion(s). :thankyou:

Hopefully someone who has installed this pops in tonight to read this before I finish up. Any secret to getting the clips on besides putting them in place and pressing as hard as I can? I got clips on one edge, but now the other side seems to fit a little far away. Im thinking it will sit fine once I adjust the bumper a little bit. Also am I supposed to reuse the plastic that sat between the stock grills? It looks like it was something for low speed crashes, but i'm not really sure. Did you use the metal clips on the lower grill as well? Most of the plastic tabs line up, but some seem to be a little loose. I want to make sure it stays in place and doesn't pop out.

I will do my best to explain, I believe MB gives you 6 clips. on lower grill use 4 and slide over tabs. upper grill use 2 slide over tabs on the left and right where grill meets the bumper. also helps to run the 2 screws on either side of the grill until you get it up and in place then remove them and finish the reassembly. clips don't clip anything together the just hold in place.

Thanks for the tips. It took me 4 hours, but 1/2 of it were those damn clips. I think I did it different than I was supposed to, but the grill is in place and it looks good. I will post some pics when the car is cleaned up and I find a nice spot to shoot.

Glad to hear you got thru it Bill. Sounds like it was a little frustrating.
Bet it looks great. Can't wait for pics.

Quick question...what are you guys doing with your stock grilles? I wouldn't mind having a set to "experiment" a little with.

Spoolin I plan on keeping mine. What do have in mind? I suspect you may have similar ideas that I have had. So if you don't mind share your idea's, as myself or others can impart our knowledge and experiences.
