I'm kinda shakin' right now, so please ignore any misspellings. I'm driving at 70 and meant to go from 3rd gear to 4th and I hit second, but only for a moment. Since that moment, the clutch feels very light and I'm getting a slight vibration at idle then none while accelerating until I reach 4000 rpms. Pressure plate? Rod Bearing? TOB? What's the best case scenario, knowing something's broken... Worst case scenario, rebuilt tranny???? Spun bearing... I'm out of it at this point, so please help!

What happened as a result of the "mis-shift"? Did the engine rpms ACTUALLY match the vehicle speed (as it would in second gear)? Did you go way over redline? Did the clutch even engage?

Pressure plate, most likely a broken drive strap rivet. high rpm mis-shifts will cause this. best case, you just replace the clutch. worst case, the strap swings wide enough inside the clutch housing that it eats into the "wet" area of the tranny, ruining a tranny (or at least that case half, assuming you don't keep driving it)

probably a good idea to take a look at it, see whats up.

headbang Clutch engaged and my engine shot up to 8,000 rpms for half a second when I pumped the clutch to disengage and shift to the appropriate gear. I don't think it was in long enough to damage the engine, I'm sure I messed up the tranny, just not by how much.
Supposing all I'm going to need is an expanded clutch job, how much worse will it be with subframe connectors? doh

Okay... good news, I think. Took the car out for a 3mi spin and the clutch was engaging just fine. 1st gear was a little harder to get into than normal but the clutch pedal was TONS lighter to engage and revving in gear to 4,000rpms was slightly rougher than before. Any ideas would be appreciated. Do you think it's safe to drive softly? I'm going to hopefully get it looked at tomorrow

You should read drivinhard's response again. That would be a very learned opinion.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off like I disregarded it. I'm just in some shock and pulling my hair out since it's my only source of transportation. Is there anything else I ought to take into consideration when fixing this problem, i.e. other problems like bearings, seals etc... I'm going to check it all out but I don't want to miss anything only to discover on my 30mi commute to work.

The consequences of a missed shift will usually drive the pressure plate off-center, have seen the results of this several times. The vibration you've noticed at idle is because the off-center PP has caused the clutch to be out of balance. I've never seen the PP return to center on its own after this happens, you should replace the clutch.
