Mass air flow sensor part number and calibration code

I'm trying to figure out the mass air sensor calibration code to find a replacement sensor. I notice that the part number is the same for many cars but that doesn't mean the sensor will work with any particular car, am I right?

For example this part number is the same for many applications:

F1ZF-12B579-AA
AFH55-03B

But the calibration code is:

OE 24

So does that need to be the same for the sensor to function correctly in my '89?
