Are you talking about replacing the third cat with this or adding this behind the third cat?

I replaced the resonator after the downpipes with a magnaflow "xpipe resonator". Sounds great when you're on it, no drone but sounds good when you're on it. Best part is it isn't loud and obnoxious so it keeps the sleeper status when I'm out and about.

yes I purchased one for my car after seeing @SM105K install one and getting good gains both performance and sound. I've yet to install it, but plan to soon now that our local shops are opening back up. Most use it to replace the 3rd cat and stock resonators.

There are two main options, depending on if you want to replace the piping with 2.5" or keep the 2.25" piping.

I show that my distributor has both in stock, ready to ship.

I believe the stock pipe is 2.25" So you would have to enlarge to 2.5" then reduce to 2.25" unless you changed other parts.

Everything behind my resonator is 2.50
Must have been replaced. Stock size is 2.25". Look up measurements on replacement parts or look up Cat-back systems. Most of them comment on either a 2.25" inlet or how they are large diameter and increase from the stock 2.25" to the large diameter 2.5". Even the Ford Performance system is only 2.25"

I have a serious drone issue at low RPMs and when overtaking gently that makes me want to throw away (and burn) my whole SW cat-back exhaust. I had the SW catted downpipes installed for a while before that and I was happy, until I put on the full cat-back system. With the stock exhaust + the SW downpipes I used to enjoy stepping on the gas pedal when overtaking or merging onto a highway. Not anymore. Drone is killing me starting from a little above 1500 RPMs and peaking at 2700 or so. Goes away at 3000 and from there, the growl and sound is exactly what I was looking for.

Will replacing the SW resonator behind the X pipe with the 2.5" Magnaflow muffler do anything for me drone-wise? Will it change the overall sound? I really wanted a quite daily-drivable, unnoticeable sound at low RPMs until I step on it. I don't want to do custom work on my exhaust that involves wielding. I'm looking for a bolt-on fix if possible.

The magnaflow made my quiet while cruising and it quiet down quite a bit during cold starts. In my opinion I think it's worth it.
Thanks for the input. I'm definitely going to try it out before going back to stock exhaust.
I don't really care about sound, and I actually prefer a more quite performance system that is just nice step up from factory sound.

May I ask what kind of exhaust setup did you add the Magnaflow muffler to?

There is a guy floating around here that deleted the third cat and resonator on his SHO. Replaced both with a Magnaflow muffler through to the stock mufflers. Sounds pretty good.

I did that after I replaced the side exits, but with a borla muffler. Third cat and resonater were long gone, then straight 2.5" out to the back. Sounded perfect with no rasp.

I just have downpipes (american racing) I still have my third cat to the magnaflow then 2.50 piping to my mrt mufflers.
Interesting ... So, I originally replaced my factory downpipes with the Thunderstorm catless, left the rest "Factory" .... although it sounded better, was still pretty tame. I then bought MRT's muffler's ... holy **** ... loved the sound at standstill ... but drone is ridiculous, my wife won't even get in the car with me it's so annoying. (I'm annoyed to) Wonder if installing this Magnaflow resonator to replace the factory resonater (After downpipes) will get rid of that annoying drone between 1500-2500 rpm's .... Thoughts? I was about to build a helmholtz resonator, but what a ridiculous amount of work.......

Hey I’m looking to replace this same part, do you have a link or the item number for this part?
