No it will not. Only sure way to know would be to test it. What makes you think its low on compression?

I will use the search function....I told a mechanic about my problem with rough idling and bucking at steady throttle along with the 332 code and weak # 3 cylinder code.
He said it sounds more like low compression from a burned valve or bad ring and that a bad wire would also mess with the cylinders "sister" cylinder...what do you think?

If you think it is low, go out and buy a compression tester or leak down tester. Then let us know what its at.

I am, but most threads could have been answered by simply doing a search.

OH, I nkow you normally are, I was just harrasing you. But if everyone used the search function, we wouldn't have much of a forums.

I have yet to hear about a sho loosing compression stock in the time i've been on here. So I doubt it is that.

well im glad that low compression is not a common problem with these engines...the car is throwing a 332 code so I guess common sense would say to start with the EGR valve.

I would disagree and say that low compression is not uncommon, and in my experience its often due to sticky rings because people don't change the oil regularly enough. In some cases I've saved them by using SeaFoam and a good synthetic oil with lots of detergent, and in other cases they were so crudded up that they needed to be pulled apart and physically cleaned up.

i replaced the IAC, cleaned the MAF, I got the car from an old man who had it for the past 15 years and was meticulous about the maintenance. I have all the reciepts from everything he did, he changed the oil regularly. Im now using Castrol GTX High mileage oil(200000 miles) The car ran perfect for the first month I had it, as good as my 07 dodge ram with 20000 on it. then all of a sudden one day I started it up and the idle was horrible, loss of power, and bucking at steady throttle.

Did you try unplugging the MAF? If the sensor is bad, cleaning won't cure it. Have you looked at the tps sensor? You can pull voltage and see if it's operating correctly. I don't have the voltage info in my noggin anymore but a search will turn up that info.

Clean the egr and see if that helps.
Vacuum leaks?

Compression and leak down will eliminate any questions on that front.

Thats a good question....I havent tried unplugging the MAF, I will though....should I unplug it before i start it or after, or does it matter?

332? Isn't that the DPFE? On an ATX when that is going bad, it can feel like the motor is eating itself. Also, use a spray bottle and spray on the plug wires at night to see if you are arching anywhere. You're mechanic sounds more like a parts replacer, than someone who can diagnose.

The EGR is fairly new without alot of carbon buildup, I cleaned the EGR port through the intake and still the car throws 332
