I ran with the ac/heat off, fan off for a while today. When I turned it back on I had a POPOPOPOPOP for a couple seconds then normal. If everything is powered up it doesnt happen, ex. if I just shut the car off and restart a minute later no popping.

I found if I start it completely cold and shut the fan off it stops, turn fan on and it pops for about 20 seconds before stopping again.

I can post a vid if it will help. Anybody else had this? Can I just adjust something at home to fix? I hate going to to the dealer for anything and hate leaving the car.... Our 3rd car is my project Mustang which is 3 hours north at a tuner right now so we would have trouble leaving this at a dealer.

Let me know!

I was starting to think actuator last night, it sucks but I will have to leave her at the dealer. I imagine it is buried deep inside the dash so I will let them have the fun of getting to it. BLAST!

Not as hard as you would think. The one that activates the the recirculate blend door and the passenger temp door is accesible just by removing the glove box. The drivers temp blend door actuator is accesible by dropping the knee panel. The actuator the moves the blend door from defrost needs to remove the steering column for access all the actuators are under $40.

Actually I have exactly the same thing going on. It is annoying to be sure. But can anyone enlighten: Is something actually "not working" as a result? I'd rather not rush to the dealer if I can help it but will if it means there's less a/c coming in or something.

PS this is one of many issues I've had with the car, coming from an Acura which basically ran no issues, I am started to get irritated and the dealers here are not very helpful! This though I am sure I can replicate, it is basically every time I start the car now.

When you start the car, it resets all the door positions to a home position and then sets them according to what the settings are. The clicking is most likely an actuator that moves these blend doors (in the HVAC case which sits behind the glovebox area) and when one is stuck, you will hear the actuator keeping clicking loudly as its trying to move the door only to be skipping over the gear mechanism.

Make sense?

This started on my 2010 about a week ago. You can just push the re-circ button right away and it won't click until you get it in to repair.

fan knocking

my 2010 sho does the same thing, but only in auto mode, it does it when first start it & when fan changes speeds, just for couple seconds, annoying but waiting for something else to go wrong to take it in. Had the covers replaced around the brake lights about 9 months ago, new ones not peeling.
