I'm looking at UDP's for SHO's but I've seen a few different ones. The ones on SHO Source only have a pic of 1 pulley for the crank, and yet I've seen a set with 2 pullies (alternator and crank).

What is the proper set, or does SHO Source come with more than one pulley but they just don't say?
I recently burned out the bearings in my alternator and water pump after missing 4th and bouncing off the rev limiter

I'd like for that to never happen again....

(btw, this is not a wanted ad, just a question on how many pullies are there, so don't PM me about selling me any)

I bought a set from Doug Lewis, and couldn't be happier. It's a 2 piece set (alternator and crank), and I've had 0 charging problems (other than when my alternator died).

I bought a 2pc set from FPS. I think it was a 2pc. it was so long ago. I went from killing 3-4 alts a year to not killing any in 2 years. This was for my ATX car. If you are shopping for a ATX car these WILL save your accessories but you will NOT notice a performance increase. there is a HUGE weight savings but because of the massive converter on the other side of the engine the weight savings is negligible.

4pc set here, NIB. Not sure whether I'll get around to installing them before sending my jalopy off to the crusher or not.

Not sure too, why everyone thinks UDP's are so great. I've had more than my share of higher-rpm runs and am still on the original accessories.

Well, I have replaced my alternator - but not because it failed. Rather I replaced it while I had it out to get to a leaking o-ring on my A/C compressor.

OP, I don't think I would have wasted my money on a set of UDP's if I knew then what I know now.

Does SHO source offer a 2 piece set or just 1 piece?
I'd prefer to get the 2 piece set to save my alternator next time I decide to miss a gear

which ones are the best also.

Plus, I've heard good things about the performance gains on an MTX as well.

I have the Sho Source one. It's just the crank pulley. However, it should save youy accesories. This is the reason I got it....at autocross I spend a bit of time above 7k. Plus it's blue so it matches the car. Not sure about performance gains....it seems to have a little better throttle response and the UDP definantly saved some weight.

The UDP's we sell are just the crank pulleys. This is where most of the power gain comes from. Also they do reduce the affect on the accessories.

We went with the crank only to reduce costs as well as make selecting them easier. You don't have to worry about years which is affected by the alternator mainly.

We have them in stock and ready to ship.

My fear came true tonight. My water pump pulley decided to just say "peace i'm out".

It occured to me a few hours ago when I suddenly lost power steering, then my temps went up.
The pulley is just dangling there now.

Good thing I kept a spare water pump. I suppose I'm going to have to change my alt soon as well.

Do you have any idea on the power gains? What about the limitations of how much I can rev to? (Ya know, just in case I accidentally miss 4th at WOT and bounce off the rev limiter again)

I'll definitely be looking into getting on VERY soon.

you know there is no such way to tell that....... I've had my car to about 10,500 rpm? I think it was mathematically and all I blew was a coolant hose.... all my bearings still functioning properly..... I was winding out 3rd and put it into 2nd accidentally, with rev limmiter function cut out from my superchip lol

if its your time its just your time, people do less then that and blow up all kinds of stuff... no way by putting on underdrive pulleys are you positively reducing harm to your accessories.... sure it reduces their speed, but think about it, bearings go out all the time on other cars that don't even run high rpm, even on little old ladies cars who never go faster then 40mph....

i forget the name of them but the company shosource goes threw can make you a whole set of UDPs still even tho the website says they dont make them anymore, just takes longer to recieve them is all.
i was gonna order a set off them but instead i found a set from someone local and i got the 4 piece solid pulleys like the ones in the picture they guy has on this thread and if i was to give a number
id say probley 10 hp at least because it was a noticable difference when i put them on and the car revs much nicer that the 20 lbs crank pulley is gone
i had to do some searching and playing around to find the belt sizes which if you like i can give ya the belt sizes to help out i got from napa

Well with just 3.2 UDP and y-pipe the 89 dyno'd 213whp and 215WTQ. ( i have an old SS 3-peice set) I would wait till one pops up on ebay and snatch it up. plus u can save $$ for it too. Plus it shines up the engine bay. LOL

Proabably around 5-7hp. The Duratec dynoed at 8hp to the wheels.

You will probably be able to hit 8-9k. Maybe more for short periods.

That's called wear and tear.
You can burn out a bearing when it reaches its limit. Try it with some skate board bearings, spin them up to 10,000rpm or more and see how quickly they burn out.
