IIRC, this SHO was for sale here in Phoenix, AZ about a year ago and got snatched up pretty quick. The CarFax showed it as a 2 or 3 owner car and had been in the desert for some time. Like most of the posters here are suggesting, check the car over for any signs of dry rot on seals, hoses, wires and insulation and get the cams welded

Nah, this one spent its life in Staten Island. We actually know someone that knows of this car. Said an old lady drove it around. Also found a local guy that can weld the cams for me. Now my only fear is rust but so far the pictures I've gotten look very clean.

Looks like a pretty clean car, and with an older lady as it’s previous owner, hopefully this makes it relatively unabused. That's awesome that there are a few lower mileage Gen3’s out there still. There’s a silver one for sale on Cargurus with approx. 60k miles in NJ for about $6000, too. That might be the one I saw out here in AZ. Either way, these cars are getting harder to find in this condition. Good luck with the purchase and ownership

That's this one, talked the price down a bit though.

That's about how much I paid for my Arizona car about 7 years ago when it had about 43k on it. Now its pushing 150k miles.

Sounds like a few enjoyable miles were put on in that time.
Do you think he Gen3 has hit the value floor and can only rise in value now?
A small car dealer in downtown Phoenix was selling a 56k mile Gen3 silver SHO for $4500 about a year ago. Almost pulled the trigger on her, but it had some bad touch up paint done to the passenger front fascia, paint damage in spots on the rear bumper, and made me question the purchase. I was a few days too late.

Well at that low of mileage, its fair to say the car will fetch just about any price the seller wants. But used as a daily it will lose value due to wear in parts. These are rare vehicles with special components that add to the cost of ownership. They are no doubt fun, but the value is in the eye of the buyer...

OK, everyone, sing along with the Beach Boys - "She was a little old lady from Pasadena Staten Island...."

Dang I'm old. The point being that you should ask the car guys around there, "Were you ever dusted off by a silver Ford sedan?" :burnout: She might not have been as easy on it as you'd think.

Well this was a bust. Car wasnt in nearly the condition we thought it was in. Found another one, though. Problem is the brake lines are shot. I hear it's not an uncommon issue, anyone know what shops charge to fix this?

Mine is in excellent condition and I have started to consider selling it, but as I am on the West coast of Canada, I suspect distance makes your considering it impractical.

One thing to consider, if you can get it at a justified price, is obtaining the "spare parts" car. Obviously if they are asking for $6k, the car should be near new in wear. Not full of rust or tears. $500 -$2,500 for "just running" isn't bad. Of course at anything above 40k you will have to expect normal wear maintenance of tires, pads and fluids.

I got my last one for near $2200 and had a failed A/C unit and worn tires and no rust, which I quickly remedied, but otherwise was in good condition.

I was really interested in this car but I've too many as it is, including a '96 SHO I bought not too long ago (only 63k miles on that one; had Doug/FPS so the cam welding and trans oil change). Also thought the price was steep considering the cams aren't welded as far as the seller knows. Otherwise, always wanted a silver SHO and that one looks very nice. Good luck.
