Ok... I'm a retard and somehow sideswiped my car on the basketball pole last night backing off the driveway. Sadly, I saw the ******* there but still somehow managed to hit it. The damage kinda sucks, but it's not the end of the world. The paint doesn't look damaged and I was able to get rid of most of the black marks with some mild rubbing compound. The part I'm not too thrilled about and am looking for advice is the crease dent on the side of my car.

I've come up with a couple options and am not sure which road to go down.

1. Go to the junkyard and pull a door for $40
2. Use bodyfiller and have a shop paint the door. $200?
3. Pay a paintless dent removal service and hope for the best $?
4. Somehow bang it out myself with a hammer, wood, or whatever tools are necessary.

Suggestions? sites?

I would look into a good paintless dent remover first to have them evaluate your dent, there is a guy in our area that does asume work and doesn't charge if the customer isn't satisified. I worked in a body shop for a number of years and never believed in them until I witnessed the craft of dent and crease removal at a NWSHOC meeting. It made a believer out of me, since then I've hired him to remove dings in my cars including my '89 before heading out to the SHO convention last July. (It may have helped in winning the GOLD award)

I have a couple dings in my door that might benefit from that also. If it's good enough for your car, it's good enough for mine, I say ;) That car's purty.

I'm feeling better already. I'm half tempted to try it myself, but I'm doing my best to hold back and let a pro deal with it. I'd rather not crack the paint. From what I've read, it takes some skill. I just hope I find someone decent and it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg. Any idea how much this stuff costs. My crease is a little more than half the front door.

I had the paintless dent guy take some dings out of mine when i got it and you cant tell at all they were ever there. WHATEVER you do, DONT try to pop it out yourself by going at it from the back side. The guy i bought my sho from tried this and even though ur eye doesnt see it, ur pushing the metal out beyond where it was originally. So when i had the dent repair guy attempt to fix a crease...... he couldnt because it was flexed outward. He has done the repair stuff for 25 years now and says that metal can be popped out only if its an inward ding and thats it. if its been pushed inward and then popped outward the metal has been fatigued and cant be properly repaired unless filler is brought into the picture because it is stretched in that one section. So i just put up with a minor blemish that only i see in the right rear. the guy i bought it from tried 2 things which are both no no's........ 1. attempting to push from the inside. 2. Using a ding king that the billy mays guy on tv sells. Those things will ruin your car if you try to use them. If they actually pull the metal at all, it pulls it waaaay past where it once was. So really the guy that had my car before me made the crease look worse by this.......instead of being a crease its now a ripple effect. So have the pro do it..... at least he can tell ya if its doable or not and you wont cause anymore harm that way. Good luck......... Oh down here most of them charge 50 a panel..... so if its just one panel then it shouldnt be too bad.

Cool. Report back here after he evaluates it and/or fixes it. :thumbs_u:

Welps.... according to the guy, the crease goes into the bodyline and it's gonna need bodywork with paint. He called me while I was onside at the job and I couldn't talk long. Any idea what that means? Kinda puts me in a dillema. I'm wondering if it's better to just take doors from the junkyard or have it filled and painted. Of course the crease goes 1" into my rear door
