Our 94 SHO is great out on the open road with a little weight in the trunk but beats you to death in town on any kind of bumpy roads. My 91 Ranger 4X4 rides better. The car has 105,000 miles and as far as I know, no suspension work has ever been done. The tires are Michlen Pilots with about 40,000 on them and due for replacement within the next 5000. I am NOT a "canyon carver" but do like to "let the dogs out" in a straight line occasionally. Any suggestions on how to make the car ride better at "normal" speeds?
Thanks in advance.

You might try Tokico's all around. They are a little stiffer than stock but still very comfortable to drive on.
The bounce in the rear is probably your rear struts that have worn out. Stand behind the car and push the rear of the car down 3-4 times. Stand back and watch. If the struts are good, the rear end will come right back up and settle. If they are bad, the rear end will bounce 2-3 times (or more) before it quits moving.

91 Ranger is the same as the Mazda B2600i isn't it? I have a 91 B2600i 4X4 with 148,000 miles and it has a FANTASTIC ride. Has since day one. I had to replace tie rod ends and ball joints last summer but after that it rides better than many cars. If I replace the original shocks and all the cracked bushings it will be only better. No, this isn't really helpful. The only point I'm trying to make is comparing Fordzas of that era to cars to make the cars look bad is silly. Those truck ride just like cars. A cars ride is going to deteriorate as the wearable suspension components deteriorate. The only way to restore things to "like new" is to replace all the wearable shit with new. Expensive, yes. But the cost of driving a vehicle isn't simply gas and oil unless you're leasing.

When I bought what shox.com told me were the last set available (exclusive of what might be sitting in stock on the shelf in some vendor's shop) I was told it might be September or so before they're available again. Not that that means much, but hey, it's something.
