I was wondering what you guys thought were on the best looking and lightest 16" wheels for the SHO. When I say light I mean the same weight as the slicers or maybe even lighter. Preferably I would want some that are 7" or wider that would fit without modifacation to the fender wells. Any pics would be nice.

Thanks

Are you looking for race light weight or regular weight 16's? Most steel/cast 16's are in the 18lbs-22lbs range, so all you would need to worry about is buying them with the proper offset to fit correctly with w/e width you find or decide to go with.

Just for a ex. my old 18x8 TD's were 24lbs each, and I believe centerline 16's are around the 11-14lbs range. All depends on one main factor how much do you want to spend?

My Gen1 Centerline FWD wheels are about 15Lbs. The Gen2's are about 13.5 at 16" IIRC. I think Fiske has some at 11lbs each.

Fikse doesn't make a 16'' wheel. Their line weighs from 16 to 20 lbs.

My Centerline RPM's in 17 weigh 13.5 lbs.

RI-SHO, I am looking for just street wheels not for any type of racing setup or anything. Something similar to the stock slicers but with more meat to the ground. Like I said before I would prefer really light

Centerline doesn't offer the RPM's in the correct bolt circle, well at least it's not listed on their website.

Did someone redrill them or something or have them special ordered?

Regardless of what their website says they DO offer them in the correct bolt circle. Go to a Discount Tire or some other place that sells Centerline and inquire. Shouldn't have any problems.

Go to this website and look under the wheel section. You will then see that Centerline does in fact make the RPM series in our beloved 5 x 108. They were not redrilled as I don't believe that is a safe option when wheels are designed for one vehicle and then "made to fit" another. You will also see the SSR GT1's that I bought to have something to ride on when the RPM's developed a crack in the barrel.

RI is correct, it does come down to how much you want to spend. However, sometimes not having a budget doesn't mean that you will be able to find lightweight wheels that fit your car. I have been searching for some for quite a while. When I find some I will be most happy to post here about them. Here are some of the ones that I have looked at aleady and have determined them to be too heavy.

www.fikse.com
www.kinesismotorsport.com
www.hrewheels.com

These companies will custom make anything you want. They cost upwards of $700-1200 for each wheel. For a quality product I would pay that easily however, I want quality AND a light weight. None of these are what I consider lightweight.

One company that Toolman found was Velox. Here is their addy:

www.veloxperformance.com

Take a look at their Pro Gear series, specifically the PG Rev-10, PG Rev-5, PG Rev-7 and PG-Rev 8. A 17 x 7.5 wheel in our bolt pattern that weighs 5.5kg (12.1 lbs) and has a vehicle load rating of 690kg (1521 lbs.) This would be exceptional and after talking with them
today was told of a mid-month arrival date.

Have you tried Rota? Rota wheels are relatively lightweight, high quality and affordable. I looked around online a while ago, but I don't remember seeing anything in our bolt pattern. But I have seen somewhere that Rota makes a couple of wheels in 5x108. It could have been a misprint however. shrug

FWIW I weighed my ASA JS5's (16x7.5) that I run V700's on for track events. They are 20.25 lb. About 2 lbs heavier than a slicer, but about the lightest I could find a year or 2 ago for $100 give or take. I believe with the V700's on there they come in around 44.5 lb.

I'm looking for a 16x8" rim in the sub 17 lb range.

The Velox wheels do look really good. Depending on the cost, they could be a future possibility. They do look like good quality rims, but if they really are, they're probably quite expensive.

I didn't see any of the Rota wheels that have the correct bolt circle but they might not be listed on their website, who knows.

After looking, the Rotas aren't as light as I had thought they were, but they aren't heavy. The Velox prices are on the website. BTW Tirerack now has weights for many of its wheels. The ASA JS1, Borbet Type B, and Kazera wheels look very interesting.

The ROH Snyper can be had in 16x8 and should weigh less than 17 lbs. I think I might get this wheel in 17x8.
