finally, i've begun.
whew, just finished the LEDs for one taillight, don't have the resistors for each string yet so i'll add them later. 89 superfluxes, soldered all 4 legs, as well as wires in between each 2 cathode/anode legs wires are tied into 4 legs total, it'll make a lot more sense in the pics.

on another note, the oven method works just fine for opening taillights.

first time i've soldered anything other than joining wires together so no laughing.

the solder actually looks quite good, and the board is well organized. I work in fleet testing for all the new naval aircraft gear that comes out, and I can tell you I've seen some solder jobs that look like drunk 5-year olds did them. Does the solder present a smooth, shiny, mirror-like appearance, and is it free of all pits, voids, vents, blowholes, and defects? Does it form an angle of less than 90 degrees with the leads? (does it look pinched at the top, not like a sphere on top?) If all that is true, then you've met the Navy Miniature Electronic Repair stamp of approval! :thumb:

Having experience doing the same thing i have to say that short of having custom printed boards made there really isnt a way to make the wiring look extremely good, what you have done looks just fine.

now there's that drunken 5-year old stuff I was talking about. You do know that when those resistor leads touch, they short out, right? You could at least put some heat-shrink on those leads...

Looks great Justin! You took the time to do what I was too lazy to do when I did my setup. Yours looks awesome!

You left a space for the backup lights, right?

Ott's fricton: Email them; they'll have it at your door in a day or so:

http://www.ottsfrictionsupply.com/

Is that the flasher I used? It sounds familiar. It's a direct plug n' play for the SHO if it is. It's light blue in color. If you want, I can look it up wherever I have that info stored...

If I may ask, where did you get that PWM?

its made by a member of HIDplanet, however he only sells them through ebay. search ebay for LED PWM.

first post and youre already asking about PWMs? i like your style

Been lurking for a while, I've learned that reading and paying attention does wonders rather than opening my mouth and getting flamed.
We were discussing your lights on TCCA, just trying to gather how difficult it would be to complete on a G4. My SHO isn't here yet, but it may get the same treatment. That PWM looks much easier and cleaner than the resistor array I would end up doing without it. :thumb:

Thanks

And it's written "for off road only" on the circuit board.

yeah the pwm is great, if you're interested in learning more, the LED section of hidplanet (www.hidplanet.com/forums) is a wonderful source. for a g4, i don't know if you would even need a PWM, don't they have different sections that light up for the turn signals? anyhow, i'm sure all your questions could be answered on hidplanet. i'm a lurker member on tcca maybe i'll pop over there to see what people are saying.

The turn/brake part of the housing is all in the same area. The housing has 3 sections, the main brake/turn area, reverse, and an extra unused spot.
Does that PWM operate the LED's at their nominal voltage? I believe the superflux (phillips) I have run at 2.6v 70ma... Bright little things.
This is one of my projects (G3 mirrors):
