This is becoming extremely frustrating. I have tried everything to keep my SHO dry. The trunk leaks and I also find water in the back seat footwells. I have tried the advice on the SHOtimes site and it didn't work. I replaced the trunk weatherstrip and that didn't help. I can see where it leaks in the trunk: right over the license plate. Water just comes in right over the weatherstrip. I even tightened the latch on the trunk to try to get a better seal. HELP!!!! Any input would be GREATLY appreciated.

Finding where it's leaking in is half the battle. This may sound ghetto, but it might work. Buy some of that weatherstrip that has the sticky backside to it put a strip of that on your trunk lid so when you close the trunk lid it'll be to the outer side of the car's weather strip...overlap it. If it's on the outside when your trunk lid closes it should give you additional protection and it doesn't have to be real thick so it shouldn't interfere with the trunk lid closing. It may work or it may not, but it's worth a try.

Did you check you sunroof drain tubes? Could be a source for you foot well problem (assuming you have one). I had a front passenger foot well issue, pulled the carpet back & found it was dripping down from way above (windshield I belive, now replaced). You should pull your carpet back & sit inside while someone else runs a hose on the outside working slowly from the bottom up. When water starts dripping down you can pin point your source. I don't get your trunk issue though. Water runs down the side of the trunk & then usally down onto the tail lights. I forget isn't there a seam right in the middle of the trunk gasket above the plate? If so that could be your problem. Try some silicone on the seam.

Are you sure it's coming in the trunk in the center,. license plate area? I know a guy who had water leaking in like crazy (on an 89 SHO) around the tail lights. He pulled the tail lights and re-sealed them with a lot of good sealant and it fixed the problem. I would suggest poly-urethane as used for windshield installations. Also, I have an Oldmobile that would fill the trunk with water, as well as the back seat and floor would get soaking wet. I tried to find the source, but finally re-sealed the rear glass and it hasn't leaked since..., even in Seattle. :p

Passenger front foot wells & Noah's Ark

Thanks to JonVH for the reply regarding the front passenger foot wells. For the past several months, I have had water collecting in the front passenger foot wells ... but ONLY after TORRENTIAL rain STORMS. (That eliminated a clogged evaporator drain tube.) I had the windshield replaced 12-18 months ago, but this just started about 4-6 weeks ago. I will try JonVH's take-a-peek / take-a-look-see suggestion.

Gotta Love this Forum!!! Thanx to youse guys, I have tried stuff on my car, that I never would have considered trying a gabillion years.

That thin 1/4 inch self sticking foam weatherstrip works great on the tail lights. Check for cracks in the tail light too. Have a small one on the top of the tail light that takes in lots of water. Once again I am reminded to fix it.

Anytime I get a new windshield it usually leaks until the second or 3rd try from autolite or Cindy rowe.
