Key fobs not working

As of recently when trying to get into the car with the keyless entry it will not work. Have to get the fob out of my pocket and press the unlock button (I know not a big deal but it is a convenience I was used to). I've the last two days the car has not been starting unless I put the fob in the little slot in armrest. I tried swapping fobs and no luck, same problems. Has anyone experienced this or know of any ways I can test to fobs to see if it is just a low battery? Any and all help appreciated.

Probably the car battery since it's both fobs, but could be the fob batteries as well (easy to swap out). advance auto and autozone have fob testers at the checkout counter and/or parts counter, that's about as easy as it gets, i think.

We had that on our Lincoln MKZ. It needed to be reprogrammed. But they then found a problem with a sensor on the passenger side so had to replace that.

Never asked if the bad sensor on one door caused the problem. I don't think that it did though. While waiting for the part the driver side worked fine after the reprogram

I would start by swapping batteries in the fobs.
