I received three fobs when I purchased my SHO about 4 years ago. I have only ever used one but accidentally took it with me and someone needed to move my car. Neither of the other two fobs worked and I assumed they must just have dead batteries. I replaced the batteries and neither fob functions. Is there a way to program these or otherwise verify that they go with the car?

I would start by removing the old school physical key and try it on the door.

They fit. Although when I replaced the actuator I was unable to get the cylinder reconnected, so I don't have a way to get into the car in the event of a dead battery :(

Put the keys in the back up slot and see if the car starts with no other fobs in the car.

It is posible that at some the other keys were erased from the cars memory in a past repair or just pain wrong but the key works for the lock cylinder.

If you only have one key that starts the car you can't program another key without a scan tool or some electronic device.

The car will start with the other two fobs when one is placed in the slot. I get a message "my key active, drive safely". The fobs are otherwise useless, though. No lock/unlock, etc.

Can I program them in Forscan?

If they start in the back up slot they are "programed" to the car.

What I have seen is that the PATS chip that is passive, in that it works without a battery in the key fob, can be programed to the car, but the remote/transceiver portion is incorrect.

Now thinking about this, take the back off the key fobs and see if the part numbers on the printed circuits are even close to each other.

Oh, you are not going to believe this..... I had the batteries installed upside down :( Both fobs work fine now. What a bonehead.

You know, you didnt have to tell us that... and came up with a much better story...

Maybe it will help someone in the future. I only noticed because when I took the working fob apart it was obvious that the battery in it was installed opposite of the other two. I'm just glad to have 3 working fobs now. I'm trying to work up the nerve to attempt reconnecting the door lock cylinder again.

Well, consider the frustration now or nocking out a window later when you lock the car and the battery is dead?
