Hi, new to forum. Have been looking for awhile. Decided to join so hope to get to know some other Sho owners. Back to my post:) I've tried the k&n cone filter and loved the sound it makes but want to try the panel k&n. had to order it, will pick it up today. Looking forward to the results of the seat of the pants dyno.

A K&N panel, retaining the stock air box, and running some sort of cold air intake from the wheel well has proved, over the years, a very sound combination.

Best of luck with it.

I have the K&N panel filter in my 98, and also have the air box cut open to take a 3in flex tube that runs into the fender. Also removed the air silencer too.

clean air

I Porterized my airbox way back in the day with the K&N panel. It made a nice sound but no real noticeable power gain. I think the main benefit is in cleaner air feeding the intake.

This does not produce a power gain, but rather prevents a power loss. By getting large amounts of cool air to the intake rather than hot air from under the hood via a cone filter or restricted amounts via the OEM sax intake, you keep the engine from losing power under adverse conditions.
