to be honest i dont know much about the car because i bought it from an online auction ... i am just trying plan ahead of things. thinking i should replace belts and water pump regardless.... last time i had a 1997 volvo 850 where the timing belt snapped and i ruined the engine ... so rather not have that again.Do you know any of the previous maintenance history on the car? Perhaps the previous owner did some of it.
Part deals pop up now and then (ebay, rockauto, etc.), but it may take awhile to get them all. With Shosource, you can get them all at the same time. It depends on your time frame and if you have issues that need to be fixed sooner than later.
That is good planning to look ahead, but the SHO engine is non interference. Hence, if the timing belt breaks, the engine is still okay. You can look at the water pump to see if it looks like the original or if it looks like it was replaced. That might give you an idea if the front 60K had been done.to be honest i dont know much about the car because i bought it from an online auction ... i am just trying plan ahead of things. thinking i should replace belts and water pump regardless.... last time i had a 1997 volvo 850 where the timing belt snapped and i ruined the engine ... so rather not have that again.
The NGK wires come with the same clear covering as the OE wires too. So look close. That is good planning to look ahead, but the SHO engine is non interference. Do the spark plug wires have the see through wrapping going around them, if so then those are the originals wires. If they are bare, then they have been replaced at one time. Pull one of the spark plug wires and see if there is any oil in the plug wells. if there is no oil, then you should be okay until you are ready for the 120K service.
Are the NGK wire the same as the ones from AC Delco, 826Q. I forgot the AC Delco wires also came with the clear covering too (getting old)The NGK wires come with the same clear covering as the OE wires too. So look close.
