I replaced timing belt when I replaced valve cover gaskets. Now I get dtc 212 along with 215,216,217 for bad coils. Followed sorryass Chilton manual. Says nothing about spout plug. Diagnosing and opening wire looms not my strong spot. Any help would be appreciated!!!! But otherwise drives without a hiccup.

There is only 1 coil pack vs individual coils on the plug. You have plugs and sparkplug wires. Sometimes the firing order in one of the books I forget which book and which image was wrong but those are easy to mess up unless you change them out one a t a time. You don't need to pull the SPOUT for anything. The SPOUT plug is a jumper that allows it to operate normally. If you pull out the jumper plug that defaults timing and puts it into limp home mode. It is only advised to pull that plug if your car is having a problem passing emissions testing.

Double check those codes. Your codes listed show that all 3 coils inside the coilpack have a fault somewhere when it was running. ( each coil inside the pack fires 2 different plugs in different cylinders) . In fact I would clear the codes, drive it, and check them again.

If you keep getting those errors then the issue is with either the DIS module on the side of the intake or the computer itself. (or wiring or the grounding screws for the DIS module)

Usually, when I had the 215/216/217 codes it was because of a bad DIS, not coils. But since you just had things apart, there is a good chance you don't have a good ground between the DIS and the rest of the world. The crossover tube on the intake needs to be grounded to the firewall and to the engine proper. Double check all that first.

There was a post recently about this and myself and Irish Pride posted a pic or diagram about the DIS location and grounding points. There are several bolts that ground the module and the intake.

If in doubt, add your own ground wire with big ring terminals on each end, between the passenger strut column grounding bolts and the nearest intake crossover bolt.

Or a ground wire from the strut tower ground stud to either one of the lower DIS mounting screws.
