Hi Everyone,

I apologize if this has been covered; I did my best to search for something similar.
I picked up a 2010 SHO about six months ago. Last week I had to have it towed. Dealer found that my #3 injector failed, costing about $1,400.

Because I'd like to not have this happen again. I was hoping to get some advice on what may have caused it or how I can avoid it again. My neighbor recommended inject cleaner - but it appears from another thread that with DI it doesn't work the same as it would with normal injection and wouldn't do much to help. Could this have been caused by something I couldn't have prevented? (bad gas, etc?)

Thanks for your help,
Brian

I doubt it could have been prevented.
One question I have is - why did it have to be towed?
The problem with second-guessing things is you don't really have enough information to work with (that you know is gospel). I am always suspecious of what dealers / repair shops tell me. For all you know they were half way through following a hunch it was an injector, when they found the real problem (which was something unplugged or whatever).
Just keep an eye on yours, maybe test drive a few others and see if they feel the same as yours, and if the do, you are good to go.

I also had an injector fail with mine at only 9,000 on the odometer back the first year I had it. Ford replaced it and all 6 plugs at the same time. It had been throwing a check engine light here and there and one day getting onto an interstate ramp I floored it and it bogged like crazy. Light flashed on the dash and it finally cleared up and regained power.

Two days later, it waited outside their doors at the dealership. Three days later, I had it back and been fine ever since. Right at 30K now. I had always ran 93 octane so I feel it was inevitably going to happen no matter what. Chalk it up to not-so-quality parts. Not the first time hearing about injector issues. One guy wasn't so lucky with plugs though either. Ford has replaced a couple motors due to failures.

Did you have to pay any part of the $1,400??? Injectors are much less than that.... What else in damage did it do to the engine???\\
