I recently installed front and rear reenforced motor mounts and opted not to put the tq limiting mount back on. Is there any reason to put it back on? Just wondering.

Do you mean the engine dampers/stabilizers? Do they "look" like the shocks that hold your hood up? If they bolt up to the motor mounts, the life of the motor mounts (especially the front mount) depend on those being installed correctly and in proper working order.

They absorb the force in the case of a sudden "Shock" to the drivetrain, like if you side-stepped the clutch (which I have/will never attempt in my SHO) and other various times the drivetrain is being ****** suddenly and violently.

Hope this helps sleep

There will be quite a few who say they're useless and don't need to be there. Quite honestly, I feel that they were put there for a reason and should be installed. To those of you who've laughed at me in the past about this, go ahead and have another good belly laugh again at my expense.

She's right. They are there for a reason. Leave them in place or shorten the life of your motor mounts. Anyone laughing now?

But do I really need it if the mount is reenforced? I could see how its important w/ a stock mount but I have both front and rear "kirked" mounts. thumb If it is in fact that important I'll just throw it back in. Thanks

I put mine back in even with my extreme mounts installed. It's good peace of mind regardless of whether or not you think they serve a purpose.

If all the mounts are in good shape & the dampners good, it makes for a smooth/quiet operation under "normal" driving conditions. The more into throttle you get the more of a hinderence the engine/drivetrain.movement becomes. Forcing all that movement on the soft mounts will tear them out sooner than later dampened or not. Heavyduty mounts that I have seen are a ripoff.

The factory dampers are not there to hold any of the engine's torque forces, they're there to keep it from bouncing, and dampen sudden changes in engine position. Coming on or off throttle they keep you from experiencing a sudden jolt as the engine goes from constant throttle to decereration or acceleration. They also keep the engine from bouncing back and forth (bucking). They ARE very important and should be reinstalled.
