For that pulsating idle...clutch in, coasting.
My 89 has been doing that intermittently that the last couple of weeks weeks or so. The IAB is only a month old....
Also have notice that my cruise control hasn't been working steadily. Each time it quit working, I found the cruise's throttle cable unclipped, but the pulsating idle would be gone. Clip it back on and the wierd idle would come back as would the cruise control, until the cable came off again...
I finally looked closer at it yesterday. It seems I had bent the cruise cable mounting bracket in toward the throttle body, while recently working in there. I bent it back to position, about 3/8 " travel and reconnected the cable. Last evening I had cruise and a stable idle. My guess is that the bent bracket was causing the CC cable to partially hold the throttle open and the IAB was getting cycled in an attempt to find the correct dashpot strategy.
Oh, well, check that CC cable bracket.
