Here the past few days when I would pull up to a stop light the car would have a little trouble idling, and would someitmes die if I didn't help recover it. I recently had a rebuilt transmission...could this be part of the problem. I was also told that it could be the MAF.....and suggestions??? Thanks!!

Is it running really rich? Or showing a check engine light?
My SHO had a hole in the tube that goes from the EGR valve to the rear exhaust manifold. Which caused it to idle rough and run rich.

Check for vacuum leaks. That could cause an idle problem. Also reset the idle program by disconnecting the battery and leaving the headlight switch on for 15 minutes to clean the EEC memory. Reconnect the battery and restart the engine. Within the first 70 seconds, turn on the A/C, turn the steering wheel side to side, turn on the headlights and press the brakes. This will teach the EEC the range of loads the idle air bypass valve must accomodate to maintain the idle speed. Give these things a try and let us know what results from it.

Try the IAB valve that is located on the intakes right next to the throttle body. There is info @ shotimes that talks abut how to clean the IAB. I experience the exact same problems as you, and cleaned the IAB and they disappeared. I actually had doubts as to whether or not cleaning the IAB would have any effect at all... turns out I was wrong... it made everything perfect.

Pull the MAF sensor off of the housing and check the wires. If they are dirty clean them with some electrical cleaner(I think thats what they use). A KNN filter that is over oiled will **** this sensor every time. But anyway check it out.

I changed MAF (i had 2) and that fixed it...but i like the idea of teaching it to idle by showing it the loads it could see...

if it's a similar problem, then the principles should work to fix it. try it and see, no harm can be done

DITTO! I was skeptical at first, but the idle problem was occasionally a problem, so I cleaned out the IAB... took about 2-3 hours (I was very thorough) and the problem is totally gone. I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone to clean the IAB, it is easy, and you will be AMAZED at the amount of buildup in there if you have never serviced it.
