Hello,
I just purchased a Mark VIII maf and intalled it on my stock. Now the rubber pipe that goes from the maf to the throttle body is about an inch short. Im trying to figure out where I could find a flexable pipe in the right diameter/length. Any ideas? I guess I could use a short piece of PVC and a furnco as a kind of adapter. Didnt know if anyone else had come across this.

Do you have an atx or mtx? The tube on the mtx is a little longer than an atx.
You could always go get the universal dyer hose from Autozone, lol! No really, don't do it:)

Can't you just get a piece of hose 1" longer from the MAF to the airbox to make up the difference? When I had the GenI I used rubber hose from the plumbing department at Lowes or Home depot. Fit perfectly. Mark MAF was a waste of time for me, even with a programmed chip.

I have an MTX. I thought about the tube from an ATX, but I believe they are shorter since the engine is slighty forward. I guess its off to Home Depot to see what I can find.

Ill check out Home Depot. I was thinking the 80mm would help open things up with my mods. Ypipe, P+P intake, bbb and Triflows. I am also switching out the stock catback for a dynomax unit. Shosource is programing my LPM.

I hope the tuning works better for yuo than for me. I think if I ever got a custom tune again it would be with the tuner onsite or with lots of data logging to dial it in properly. I did it way back in the the day with Ted B.

Out in front!
Mail order tuning = Fail. Always hit or miss every car is different. My .02 . Stock Maf is fine until you max it out . Your hard pressed to max one out N/A . You could run a 100 shot with your listed mods and still not outgrow the stocker .

Yeah, the best tuning would be on the dyno with a Tweecer so you could change things and then rerun in the same conditions. Luckly I have a dyno about 2 minutes from my house, and the guy gives me a good price. It is just a lesson in patients.....installing the LPM with the new tune....comparing the runs to the previous....mailing off for some tweaking....repeat. I think I talked to a few people that said Ted B didnt have the curve for the Mark VIII so he just tries to dump in fuel to compensate. Not sure if its true, just what I heard.

Doesnt the stocker max out around 300chp? If I put about 215-220 to the wheels that is 260-265 chp (with a wavetrac). I would think a 100 shot would add more than 35-40 chp. I agree that the stock maf is the best choice in most instances, but if you have all the intake and exhaust mods + cams I would think that a larger (and correctly tuned) maf would help all the other mods work better. FYI back to back runs with the stock maf and my plugnplay PMAS 75 showed a gain of 3-4 whp. I guess we will see when I visit the dyno agian.

Hit the Home Depot and got it adapted. 3" furnco and a little PVC.

how do you get a 3-4whp increase, is it 3 or is it 4 horsepower?

I think larger MAF's let the intake noise get louder and sounds a little cooler...

my 2 cents on that subject......

Going from memory...I dont have the graph in front of me. Also, there is a varience from run to run. I was doing it more to see how the aftermarket maf compared to the stock in the a/f area.

There are alot of variables between runs as far as temp and everything. The other thing to watch for with gains is whether you get them from running too lean.

Yeah, everything comes into play. The 75mm I have meters well....as in the a/f was pretty much the same as the stock one. Actually, I think it was just a tad richer on the low end.
