When replacing the in-cabin air filter (behind glove compartment) on my 2010 SHO I found a part I couldn't decide a possible use for.

Can anyone tell me what the black tube with the two yellow bands over the end pictured below could possibly be for? The end opposite the yellow rubber bands is attached to a swivel mount which allows the whole tube to swing around and pivot up and down.

My first thought was a drain, but you say it is in the interior. Could it be something to direct air flow the climate control?

That is the glove box door dampner for a "soft" open.

It attaches to the left side of the door. Looks like you are missing the plunger portion. Is it inside of that tube? Cant tell from the photo. If its still attached to the door in fits inside the other part behind the rubber bands.

Aha! Now THAT makes sense - I'll get in there this weekend and see if I can get it reattached. I had to remove the glove compartment door completely to get to the air filter, so that makes sense - other end is probably still attached to the door. :)

Thanks!
