I guess compressor is drive line.. AC problems

Anyone have an estimate on replacing a bad compressor on a MTX with a R134 model (meaning changing it to r134 from r12)? I am guessing around 1000 but hard receipts of those that have been there would be great.

Im willing to bet the labor is going to be a bit#$.

Dude,

Been there. You can't get a warrantee on the new compressor unless you replace the dryer/accumulator and orifice tube also.

Conventional wisdom says stay with R12, R134 operates at a higher pressure and does not absorb as much heat. If your system has a weak spot (o-rings, seals, connectors, ect) R134 will find it and even if it doesn't it won't be as cold as R12.

I had the whole thing done and the R12 recovered and recharged for just under $1k. Go to 4 Brothers AC in Raleigh. They're the best.
