I've done the search and came up with nothing specific....I posted in this forum because I need to do it before I leave because it will determine if I stop by the parts store on my way out. :) Thanx for the help.

The easiest way to reset the computer is to pull the negative terminal off the battery for about 15 minutes. Pull the negative terminal and then press and hold hte brake pedal for a few seconds to drain any residual charge. Then wait 15-20 minutes and reconnect. Start the car and follow the idle speed reset procedure listed in your owners manual or online here.

Surge and Chris...that procedure does not work on my car. I have to run the diagnostic, or KOEO test...while the test is running, I remove the paper clip on the EEC Test box, then reconnect it.

Look up KOEO test, the procedure is in more detail there...It takes only a few minutes...

Here's a few links:

I think it really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I believe that "erasing the codes" sometimes does not mean the same thing as "resetting the computer".

If you want to clear trouble codes from your PCM's memory, then you can do that at the EEC Test connector, using the method described by SuperG.

However, if you want to clear other things such as idle trim values and/or long-term fuel trim values (for example), then I think you need to follow the method Chris suggested.

NY for now, WY for real
It doesn't even take 15 minutes on mine.

I unplug the batter, turn the key ON
Lights on, foot on brake pedal for about 30 seconds.

TURN KEY OFF!!!! (it sparks bad otherwise and you could mess up the computer.. eek! )

Plug it back up.
You should start and let it idle without touching the gas for a minute or so.
Then turn on everything electrical- all lights, blower, radio, defroster, etc... and let it sit for a minute or two...
