i just wanted to ask how to replace my strut mounts. ive done them before but last i did them, they were in a chrysler and it was in auto school back in 03 so i kinda forgot the process. so i know i have to take the struts out right? if so do i have to use a spring compresser tool to hold the spring? if not what do i have to do and roughly what tools would i need?

Take the strut/spring assembly out of the car, compress the spring, remove the nut on the top of the piston, and remove the mount. Replace with the new mount, installation is reverse of removal (got that line from good ol' Haynes!) .

It's really a lot easier with air tools, of course. Especially getting the nut off the top of the piston.

You'll need spring compressors, a decent selection of 1/2" drive metric sockets and wrenches, and a good amount of patience if you're doing it with hand tools. :)

"remove the nut on the top of the piston" is a tremendous understatement. IMHO it's worth every penny of the $15 a garage will charge you to swap them.

I find that "easy" is a relative term to which everyone has their own defenition. Sure, it's easy, as compared to giving childbirth.

Is that how you're referring to your recent state-sponsored "probing" now? I guess I gotta start keeping notes of all your fancy new slammer code words!
