Replace the tilt switch/socket assembly that the bulb is mounted in.

Remove the bulb temporarily to prevent battery drainage.

Thanks Steve, I was also wondering how that light worked. :bonk:

Here's a related question: is the hood lamp circuit tied into the autolamp or sunload sensor, or something else that prevents the light from coming on during a bright sunny day? :bonk: :bonk:

Mine don't do that.... must be a gen 2 thing :squint:

The under hood light switch is usually a "mercury" switch. As the hood is raised the mercury flows and makes contact. rangerj

according to TSB 01-21-6 there is a revised hood lamp switch. I know sometimes my SHO's have problems with the light turning on. I think the part is sub $20 at the dealer
