So this problem started about 3 months ago, i hit the MFS for the high beams and nothing happened, the next time they worked fine. Now, as of 4 days ago the high beams do not work at all. All fuses are fine and i can hear an audible "click" under the dash but nothing from the shutters in the headlights themselves. First I referred to the owners manual to look at both fuse/relay panels in the car, the underhood one does not match the illustrations in the manual. In the manual it shows relay 63 controlling the high beam operation and in my car there isn't even a relay or connectors in spot 63. I have emailed and called Ford and all they have to say is "Make an appointment with your local dealer" I am perfectly capable of fixing this, but Ford assumes no responsibility not giving the proper locations for fuses and relays in order to try to locate a possible issue. Please, if anyone has seen this issue or has any insight i would greatly appreciate it. I refuse to go to a Stealership when i am sure the issue is within my skillset.

Welcome to the forum, Robert. Would like to know a little bit about your car first. What year SHO is it? Did you look up the OM that came with or the online guides? The fuse layout changed somewhat between 2010-12 & 13+, that's why I ask.

On the 2010-12, it is 23 & 43 in the passenger compartment fuse box, and relay 64 in the underhood fuse box.

On the 2013+, it is 34, 38, and 39 in the passenger compartment fuse box.

Do you have the headlamps in AUTO or MANUAL mode? Could be a bad headlamp switch. Could also be that the MFS itself is malfunctioning.

Do the Auto High Beams work?

High beams
Push the lever toward the
instrument panel to activate. Pull
the lever towards you to deactivate.

Auto high beams (if equipped)
During nighttime driving, the automatic high beam system automatically
turns on your high beams if it is dark enough and no other traffic is
present. When it detects an approaching vehicle’s headlights or a
preceding vehicle’s tail lamps, the system turns off the high beams (low
beams remain on) before they distract other drivers.
If the vehicle is equipped with automatic high beams, the high beam
switch will operate differently depending on the status of the automatic
high beam system.

I seem to recall some issues with the multifunction switch on these cars - it sounds like that is your issue.

I apologize, the car is a 2010 w/o auto high beams, non pp. They do not work in auto or manual, but playing with them last night, I got them to flip on momentarily while switching the headlights on and off. I have referred to both the print manual and downloaded 3 variations of the OM and neither show the fuse panel im dealing with. I would attach a photo but the file is to large. Also my car has Factory HID if that matters.

Not sure how the SHO manages high beams with the HID lights, but on the Edge, they used shutters to change the cutoff height, instead of using multiple bulbs. If the SHO uses shutters, those are known to go bad from time to time as well (solenoid?).

I too have noticed this. But on my car, it is very random and has never been replicated at the dealership. I can find no common scenario. I have noticed that they regularly work when the auto high beam decides to blind on coming drivers!

Every figure this out? I have a 2010 Lincoln MKS (I was looking for an SHO and this was the closest I could find at the time) and keep my fog lamps turned on which disables the auto beams. When I "flash to pass" by pulling the lever toward me, the high beams work intermittently. I was hoping it was just a simple plug and play relay that was going out and not a whole module.

Yes I did, it ended up being the multi function switch(turn signals, wipers and high beams). Very simple swap, just take off the shroud on the steering column and replace the switch.
