Now this is something that I can understand and relate to. No overhead cams, four valves per cylinder and fuel injection. Just good old horse power made the old fashion way! Here is my latest set up. There is also a set of CHI 3V 225cc aluminum heads that go on top of this Fontana aluminum block.

Chuck,

You're going to need more engine than that to beat The Other Woman. Specifically, you'll need a block; the thingy with the big holes in it, then you'll need the boingy things that go in the holes, and then the bent thingy that keeps the boingy things in the thing with the big holes.

Do I detect some polished parts!!!! Whoa.

The Boss 302 block is quite a piece. Those units are much tougher than a factory Cleveland block could ever be. I went with the CHI 3V heads because they offered alot of flow and they also made a manifold to match their heads and the Fontana block, which is a cross between a Windsor and a Cleveland with some neat race stuff thrown in.

The complete 351 Cleveland engine with CHI 2V aluminum heads and matching TFC 2V intake manifold should be out of the car soon. It will need a new home since I have no intention of going back with a stock block Cleveland engine again. It won't fit in a SHO or anything else that I own either.

Buy a Bronco. Just a thought, idea, suggestion. :)

If you are talking about the home for the old Cleveland engine, I would love to put it in a nice little 1971 Ford Maverick Grabber. Should have kept mine, but once this project is done, I won't be doing anymore hot rod car stuff.

Fontana Aluminum Block Engine

What are you putting this motor in?

The aluminum Fontana engine is going in my 1973 DeTomaso Pantera. The estimated flywheel horsepower for this engine set up with the CHI 3V heads and manifold will be about 600. It will be a 396 cubic inch stroker with a 4.100 bore and 3.75 stroke. With the aluminum block and an aluminum fly wheel the car's curb weight might be a little over 2800 lbs.

The current .030 351 Cleveland engine that is in the car is putting out a little over 400 horse power, so the new engine set up should make a difference. The fifth gear will also be replaced in the ZF transaxle and that will drop 500 rpm off of the engine. With the solid lifter cam and a 6500 rpm read line, the top speed should be somewhere in the 180 plus mph range.

Mustang

Nice little white Mustang you have there. The head and manifold package you have should work out real nice in that car. Keep us posted as to the progress of the build. I know it isn't a SHO, but car nuts don't live by SHO's alone.
