in attempting first rear brake job ran into trouble, got pins out, got piston back in, but how in the **** do you get the brake line off the caliper. i have never seen any kind of system like that. it appears that u have to pull the end of the line up and around the edge of that hook thing (dont know tech terms) . but how do u get slack, Im lost!

To get slack you have to take the bolt out that attaches the hose to the strut (halfway down the hose). The clamp is secured to the rubber hose and a new one is already on the new hose. This will give you some slack to work with. Then you remove the one bolt that attaches the hose to the caliper. To remove the hose from the metal line, you must loosen the nut on the metal line and pull the line right out of the fitting. Then there's a c-type clip you must pull out around the fitting. Once that's out the whole hose can be removed. Be sure you have good crush washers at the caliper-end of the hose when you put the new hose back on, or make sure they aren't damaged.

sorry i should have been more specific, im trying to get the e brake hose off the caliber and it goes straight thru a hole and then hooks on a lever controlled by a spring, there arent any bolts holding it on. im not replacing the lines just the caliber which was locked

Okay, I just did this three days ago for the first time on my SHO. Its a piece of cake. What you need to do is:

1. Pull the caliper off the caliper bracket.
2. Spin the caliper around so you can access the Ebrake assembly on the back.
3. Now, at the end of the ebrake cable ther is a round cylindrical end... a stopper, that rests againste the "hook like thing" that you described.
Take the pair of dikes and pinch between the ebrake end and the "hook like thing" on the caliper.
4. Aggressively pry upwards. This will pull some slack out of the ebrake cable. Enough that you can get the end around the "hook like thing."
5. Once the Brake Cable is out from behind the "hook like thing," follow the cable down to where you see a C-Clip. Pull the C-Clip off with a pair of pliers.
6. Now, the cable will slide out of the caliper. It may need a bit of PB Penetrating oil and an extra pair of hands. Someone to hold the ebrake cable and another to pull and twist the caliper at the same time. Should come out fine. I work 3rd shift and rarely sleep suring the daytime. My name is SHaun should you need further assistance (978)902-5971. Call Whenever i dont care, i've free long distance.

Good! I'm glad i can finally help someone on the forum... give back a little! Now, installation is the same as removal with one exception:

With a broken hand, this will be really tough... see if you can have someone help...

You'll notice, as part of the caliper/ebrake assembly, a movable piece where the "hook thing" lives tensioned by a spring. To get the end of the ebrake back on there, you'll need to compress that part of the assembly with large vice grips. Make sure that you have room to feed the cable through the bottom hole and up into the "hook thing."

Got it off in 15 minutes this morning. Thanks again for advice. Gotta go to school now and get some parts. Now just need to get it back together. How about that flimsy silver plate on top of caliper that holds the pads in place? should i get a new one the reman. caliper didnt have one on it?

I'm not sure whether you NEED that or not.. the flimsy metal piece... i grabbed the one off my old caliper. If you've already taken the old one back, go ask to see the core and grab the one off the original. I re-used mine. I've seen calipers without them. Also, check the bleeder screw that comes with the Reman. make sure its not messed up! Make sure it screws in the rReman caliper and make sure that the hole in the bottom is round.
