hey everybody! i dont think i have introduced myself yet, my name is Chris and some of you may know me from TCCA and TSOC. I drive a 2000 Mercury Sable LS Premium that I have done a ton of work to. it has 24/26mm sway bar combo, eibach springs, fn-74 front brakes, rear disc brake swap, magnaflow/sho hybrid exhaust system, sho leather seating, mach audio, cd changer and a ton more. a pic:

anyway i am picking up a 97 Pacific green SHO with gray cloth interior has a little over 145k. it has new tires, brakes, wheel bearings, coil packs, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, and a few other things.
the bad part is that cams are not welded and there are some pretty serious tranny issues.
the cams are getting welded asap at my school by a professional welder for next to nothing. at the same time the car is going to have the suspension checked over and an alignment performed.
the biggest issue is the tranny. i was told that it has an external leak under high load from either an accumulator cover or servo cover which is causing it to slip in and out of overdrive once it is warm. he said that if you drive the car easy it shifts and drives pretty good without as many flair ups. i think my best course of action would be to have the tranny rebuilt. I'm not sure if you guys know or not but what kind of upgraded parts are there for the SHO AX4N that would help increase its durability?
ok i have a couple questions though, what is the best way (material and process) to weld the cams with? and then the tranny what can i do to make it stronger? i plan on installing a cooler btw
thanks everyone and i apologize for such a long post
