the funny kid
Hi there, fellow SHO people! My name is Jared H, and I'm from the Taurus forms, TSOC primarily.
I was fortunate enough back in August to gain my second Taurus, and first SHO. I now have a 1997 that used to be Pacific Green, but I painted it black for now. I am still deciding on a nicer color. My SHO does require some dent work, and major rust repair (non-existent rockers) before I go putting money into a lovely finish.
A friend of mine sold me this car due to him needing room, so he offered me first dibs. $1300 later, and I ended up with it. He told me that it had Rod Bearing Failure (strange, I know), and not to be driving it all around, but I didn't listen the first time around, and spun a bearing, effectively locking the engine up.
I am going to school for mechanics, and decided out of ignorance to replace just one bearing with a used one, and reuse the TTY bolts in the rod caps.
Ran great for 2 days, then developed rod knock, same cylinder and all.
I an MUCH wiser now about this whole ordeal, and through some discussion with that same friend, I've decided to replace the whole engine with a Junkyard one. The cams that are in my car currently are welded, the P.O. took care of that. So I'm looking at a Cam swap, and an Engine swap, and I should be good to go!
