so 7 or 8 months ago(before the sho was mine) my dad had to have it tow'd home. He get it home and charges the battery and all that good stuff and it wont even click when you turn the starter. I get in there and i just hold down the ignition and it turns over after 5-6 seconds not wanting to move. Fast forward to saturday. I drove 10 miles which is not normal im usually a 2-3 mile trip kind of guy being so close to everything. i go 6 miles to pick up a game and then 4 miles to a store to get fitted for a tux rental. Me and my dad go to start the car and the same thing it wont turn over so i just held the key down and it started no problem. if it does it again soon i will take a vid but it also has a new alternator

New battery 6 months ago and still same problem.

Holding the key in the start position with the starter staying still means there's a whole lot of current flowing and you're going to start melting/burning things soon.

Sounds like a failing starter, and/or faulty wiring to the starter. Check your wiring, particularly the small wire that goes to the solenoid.

Did you check any of the other shit mentioned, or just wait for failure?

Sounds to me, at this point, that you've got voltage issues. Either the battery, or cables.

Yes. The battery is good and within spec he said. Put the booster on it and still didn't work. I got under there and hit it while he hit the starter and I heard very distintly a click at the solenoid. There was also a little smoke coming fron the solenois. The alt. to the batf wire is bad so I am replacing that and the solenoid.

just be glad yours isnt doing what mine is... its gets real annoying having to run out and try to disconnect the battery because your starter is a douche and like to keep spinning
