Hello,
I know there are a few people attending the Auto Intrest's HPDE at Gingerman over Memorial Day weekend. What are you doing for accomidations? It is a bit of a trek for me, so I was thinking of coming in Friday night and camping on site Fri and Sat. Has anybody here done this? I have never been to South Haven or Gingerman, so I'm kind of in the dark.

I will be there. friday night. I am towing my white 1990 out there from buffalo. I will see how going through canada works with no passport. It is a super fun track. Me and a couple buddies have a hotel booked. I honestly don't know what hotel I am staying at but I know it is the one close to the track.

FYI you will not be allowed in the country with out the passport they will turn you around. USA requires you to have one to enter so you can't come here with out one either.
The other option is a special drivers license or a nexus card.

Make sure your brake fluid is flushed. As a noob, you shouldn't be too tough on brake pads, but boiling fluid is pretty common.

My buddy is also a noob, and is bringing his yellow 11K-mile '04 Mach 1. We flushed his fluid the other day. He was surprised at how dark the fluid near each caliper was. Other than one day at the strip a few weeks ago, the car has lived a pampered life. Over time, though, moisture still collects in the fluid.

Oh, and it looks to be warm out. You have to wear long pants & long-sleeve shirt while in the car, but no need to suffer while you aren't driving. I go in a t-shirt & shorts. Many of us have a pair of $10 Wal-Mart cotton pahama bottoms with the drawstring top. Buy a bigger size that you can pull up over your shoes & shorts.

Also, I used to bring a long-sleeve t-shirt and just change it before driving. BUT, if you are sweaty, that's a PITA. What I do now is bring an old cotton button-up dress shirt. Easy to put on/off when needed.

I also have a couple of Nomex flight suits that I bought for work off eBay. They worked great at the track (VIR) last year, and I bought a bigger size to fit over my t-shirt/shorts. Unfortunately, they are in my work trailer 500 miles away!!

Bring a folding chair for the track. Also, if you have a pop-up cabana, that's great for the sun.

I use an old tent tarp to put my stuff on that I pull out of the car. it is big enough to double-over the top of my stuff in case it sprinkles. or just to keep the sun off.

You will have to pull everything (mats, empty trunk & glovebox, etc) for the track. If you have unneccessary stuff in the car, just leave it home. less crap to deal with.

Torque wrench & proper lug socket to check your own wheel torque. As (obviously) a tire gauge. They have air at the track.

Small cooler with water/Gatorade/whatever is good.

Throw a few rags & a roll of paper towels into a plastic shopping bag. I also bring a package of Wet Wipes. Very useful.

Remember the Tech Form, although I & others bring spares.

Remember your helmet!! Put it in the car NOW!!

None of which he could get before the weekend. Looks like the long drive around the pond!!

Even if he could squeak through without a passport, towing a trailer + no passport could get ugly.

All the hotels are basically within a stone's throw of each other. All about 6-7 miles from the track.

Thanks for all the pointer. The car is pretty much ready...all fluids changed ect.

As far as the long pants/shirt I was planning on bringing a button up shirt to put on during drive time. I hadnt thought of the jump suit thing....I have a full body suit that I could put on over my clothes. I used to use it when I had to do alot of crawlspace/attic work to keep clean. If it's cotton it might work.

I'll be an Instructor. I want to take my buddy Vince out, but I have done Gingerman with SHOs, so we'll have to get a session in (only Instructors can have passengers).

This is where I get confused. I hear it and read it but two of my friends went to canada last weekend to party. no passport. Just brought their birth certificate and licence. It cuts so much off my drive to cut through canada. How sure are you on this?
