getting the differential out

i am taking my differential out to weld the pins in and i was wondering if i have to pull my tranny completely out or if i can just seperate it from the engine and get it. thanks

you have to pull it out completly.

the other way, just wouldnt work.. not only because of clearance issues, but the fact that it would be very very very difficult to pull the trans cases with the weight of the internals sitting the way it sits. (on its side)

Not only do you have to completely pull the tranny, but you have to seperate the case halves once the tranny is out. Then remove a bunch of parts (all 3 shafts with the gears on them, part of the shifter linkage, etc). It's pretty in depth work if you are doing it the first time. I'd HIGHLY suggest getting the SHONut Quaife install video, as is shows step-by-step on how to remove all the parts (to get the old differential out) and install the Quaife. At the very least if you don't get the video, I'd then suggest getting the Helms manual.
