Just curious how everyone feels at this point in time.....

From the automotive community's aspect as a whole; Will the new SHO Taurus live up to all of the hype, fall short, or land somewhere in between...???

Please discuss......:)

Not too hot, not too cold, but juuuuuust right.

This is just like the CD thread, it'll just be speculation. Unless you count the fact that it already disappointed a large number of people by not having a manual.

I’ll agree that the lack of a manual trans will be somewhat of a setback right from the start but there were many people that felt that way about the 'original' SHO only having a manual trans until `93. The way I see it is if the automatic models are a success then the manual ones (assuming they'd be made) will only increase demand. It would be opposite of the `89-99 run, they would only get better with age.....

Way too much free time.

I'd be more curious to find out how many people on this forum who are speculating and offering up opinions on a car they've never seen or driven even have the resources and ability to BUY one.

I for one am more interested to hear from the people who buy them or at least can consider buying one.

I agree with Chris- I'd hazard a guess that less than 20 people on the forum even buy one- that gushed the market needing one, and that Ford was crazy for not having one.

I will very likely buy one, Chris, and I agree with you completely. Speculation and opinions right now are pretty silly as there are no on the ground facts to speculate or have opinions about unless they are total prejudgment.

What little is publicly available from Ford indicates to me an interesting machine that covers most all of the bases I am looking for in a sports sedan. As my Gen III is now more than a decade old, I have been keeping an eye out for a replacement in case it is needed. Until the advent of the Gen IV SHO, the pick was an Infiniti G sedan with the all wheel drive option. Now, unless some very bad news shows up along with the actual vehicles in the hands of real drivers, the Gen IV has taken that place.

Well all I know is that I am set on leasing one (don't tell Ford that so I still have room to negotiate :) ). I just let my lease end on an '06 BMW Z4 3.0si and bought a temporary car. I bought a 1995 M3 to hold me over, after not being able to find any Gen 1 / 2 SHOs in excellent condition like I was hoping.

When I went to turn in the Z4, my CSR at BMW "forced" me to take a spin in a new '08 M3. There isn't one bad thing I can say about the car. The 6 speed shifted like it was out of an arcade game and the 414HP effortlessly pushed the car to dangerous speeds. All I have to do is trade the 95 M3, put $4000 or $5000 down, and pay $570 / mo or so. HA! The MSRP on it is $61,000. Nothing can stop me from the SHO whether it has it faults (t.b.d.) or not. The lack of a manual gearbox is a bit of a let-down, but the only major deal changer would be lackluster performance or handling so I can't wait to see the first magazine road tests. In any case, the interior looks to be about 5x nicer than the 08 BMW M3 and I love the exterior as well. Can't wait to have one in my driveway!

Well, since there are none around and on a timing track, I guess we will have to see what happens when one actually is timed then. But hey, no reason not to form an opinion on no data, eh?

I think it’s great we have new SHO coming out. Each generation has further added to the SHO's appeal, greatness, and heritage imho. So what if it doesn’t sell like a mustang, that’s pretty much a given and one attribute that makes a SHO unique to a special group of people.
That being said, I will take what I can get. So what if doesn’t have a 5 speed. So what if it doesn’t have a Yamaha under the hood, it’s still built on Ford assembly line with the same intentions.

When is it actually coming out??
I recall reading that it would be hitting dealer lots in late May/early June. Anyone else?

I'll wait till I see it in person and test drive it to form a real opinion, but for now, I basically wonder why it is so FREAKING GI-NORMUS. I like the idea of the twin-turbo, they hit the persona right on the head, would like to get a little more stiff when I peek under the hood, but like I said, my opinion is not final until I see it in person and take it for a spin.

What makes you think that a dealer will buy one of these (which is what they do) to use as a demo? Especially in this time and economy! You may be able to drive a SLO and the dealer will then gladly order a SHO for you

Ford dealers do not have complete autonomy in picking and choosing which models they keep in inventory and how they are equipped.
