Posting 2 topics here per subject:

I'll be taking off front bumper to change turn signal light assemblies to go along with new headlight assemblies (LED and Silverstar zXe respectively), and I might as well complement my lifetime trans warranty by upgrading to Gen 2 trans cooler. I found this great thread:
http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=109985&highlight=tranny+cooler
but I'm unclear on how to obtain a Gen 2 cooler. Rockauto shows several models in several sizes, but none which appear to match those in Chris's post size-wise, and none of them appear to have the PS cooler integrated in. Can someone explain that to me? Do I need to snatch one off an existing Gen 2?

Also, has anybody rewired turn signals to include sidemarkers (off/on, not dual intensity) or to disable the respective headlight? Does the maximum inside temperature of headlight assembly make it difficult to run hi-power LEDs inside? I'm finally getting closer to doing LED upgrade on exterior lights before interior. Getting bulbs from superbrightleds tomorrow on Cyber Monday, thank you very much.

the ps cooler is a separate piece but they use some of the same mounting locations, iirc.

the best way to get one of the coolers is to search the for-sale threads.

Thanks, I will do that. In the mean time, with regards to the "headlight" portion of this thread, with cars as old as ours, I'm sure there are plenty of people that have used the headlight lens sealant. I see a few different brands - anybody have an opinion of them or one in particular? I'd like the new housings to go as far as I can take them without getting the "haze".

I just added a small aftermarket trans cooler to the existing cooler and mounted it right in front of it. I can't recall the exact temps the trans was running at when a mechanic took it out to diagnose a failing torque converter, but I do know that it was running on the cool side. I want to say maybe 120ish on the highway in 75 degree temps? I do remember him saying the temps were excellent though and not overcooling the fluid.

I added on the cooler to see if that would help the torque converter when it started to exhibit a shudder.
