You can put regular in it but there is a noticeable power loss. Also a loss of MPG. Someone did a little experiment showing that using higher octane you actually saved money. But who knows and it all depends on how heavy your right foot is. ;)

Regular is fine if your just doing daily driving. I use it when I don't plan on racing. The engine simply wont get full timing advance. Just try a tankful and see how the car responds. If it pings like crazy then you can switch back.

I was running the cheapest I could find, which works...
BUT after some advice from Mike {shopartsnw} :thumb: {and a $1500 scare at the dealer :omg:} , I'm running Chevron Supreme. The car runs better, as my right foot can tell you. The MPG is down @ 26 from 28, which will improve {its that right foot thing}.
Its about $3 more per fillup...no lines or fights.

i had been running the V-power at shell... till one day i got 89... it was 2.89, which is what i was paying for the V-power a week earlier....
i dont know why, but this car LOVES the 89 octane... i can deffiently feel more HP... and no this was no mind trick thing... i wasnt even thinking about HP when i bought the gas...

i think it really depends on the car and its condition. also its state, as in mod wise...

but as for me im running 89 from now on...

If I run anything less than 91, I can feel the performance hit. I've experimented with this quite a few times, with different brands of gasoline, and it's the same across the board.

Another thing I've notice about my SHO is that engine performance is affected by ambient conditions (heat, humidity, etc.) more than any other EEC Ford vehicle I've ever driven. I suppose you could call my SHO "temperamental".

In any case, it's easy for me to understand why the engineers called for a "Premium Recommended" label to be placed on the dash.

that statment is very true....
as my friend and i have been disscusing this...

any car will run better on a cold dry day(which lucky me, im in texas), but the sho seems to pick it up more so than most others in a big way....
