I was out for a night on the town with my girlfriend. We were at a local club enjoying ourselves, but when we walk outside to leave the whole front bumper cover of my 92 mtx is laying on the ground. madflame madflame madflame headbang
My insurance wont cover it cause i dont have full coverage. Or i would have to pay full price to get it fixed. And the Lord only knows how much ford would want for one. This might be a good time to get an aftermarket one??? What should i do? Im sure i need a bracket kit also.

DOH!!! That is a total bummer bro.

It shouldn't be too hard to fix though. Is the cover itself badly damaged?

Not realy, its cracked real bad at point of impact. But the cover itself looks ok. Its the hardwear that holds it on is what im worried about.

How exactly did it fall off? Had you been in an accident lately? The cover is attatched at many locations and unless it's been off before and not all was buttoned up????

I know the bumber itself has those 8mm bolts (4 each side). The mount in the bumber will rust and even fall apart in the bumper (happen on one of my rear ones).

I say save the stock look and double check all the mounting locations. 2 behind the corner lamps that mount to the metal bracket on the fenders, each side in front of wheels (part of metal bracket too, 6 plastic body clips above the blue oval IIRC, couple of fender well screws and plastic clips, and of course the aforementioned bumper bolts.

From the way the cover lookes it seems that it was caught and pulled off. The drivers side was still barley hangin on. After work i plan on taking it back off and taking some pix, to help better show the problem.

Go to any autobody and ask for aftermarket prices for a SHO front bumper. New OEM from FPN is $441 and $68 for the bracket so aftermarket should get you about another 20%-40% off if your lucky.

There has been a new front bumper on Ebay as of late and he didn't wan't too much for it IIRC.
HERE IS THE LINK TO IT!!!
It's $149.95 to start and it has been on there a few times so I don't think anyone will outbid you if you bid on it... I personally would bid a little higher just to be sure though. If you want to be completely sure just buy it now...
They'll even paint it for an extra $200...

Good luck!

damn.. there was a bumper just like that a while back on a sho in the junkyard. never got painted. $45 would have taken it. Too bad someone else got it. Those bastards!

By the way, the bumper is designed to break away from the car in a fender bender. It's attached to the header panel with about 6 breakaway christmas trees, 1 more on the inside of the fenders and 1 more on the bottom of the fenders. Some retard decided to drive through my car while I was at a stop light. Dude ripped the thing clear off. I received $1500 for that accident. The bumper was ridiculously expensive on their computer report. Header assembly, corner lamp, bumper skin, and paint = $1,500. I think it was $300 for the skin and even more for paint. I got the header panel from fpn for $150. It took 2 tries because the first one came broke :( My skin is cracked but I'm not that picky about my women, so long as they perform. naughty I took the remainder and bought some 60k stuff, stage II cams, and ud pullies.
