You might try looking in the Auto Parts area, JSIL1. I doubt that it will be in Lawn & Garden. wink

Actually, Kirk is correct. The air dam that Paul spawned, I copied along with some other folks is nothing more than good old fashioned Black plastic garden trim. Comes in 12' rolls for about $12.00. Get some black machine screws to attach it and your'e good to go. I would suggest removal if you are in the snow belt in the winter. Unless of course you want to hire out as a snow plow! :D

I see. That is rather cool then. Sorry I misunderstood. How did you create the lip at a right angle to screw it into the lower side of the bumper?

You don't need a lip, it goes flat against the existing stock air dam. Just some black screws through the edging into the stock air dam is all it takes. Believe it or not when I saw it on Larry's I thought it was really nice (until he told me it was lawn edging) :D :D

The black screws that affix it aren't even noticeable unless you are looking for them.

So are you going to change the springs out every year in the fall after they are installed?

I went to Wal-Mart and they have some black plastic lawn edging 12'x 5" for 5 bucks, but it looked kinda cheap and flimsy. Is there a brand of this stuff out there that is more like rubber? The stuff at Wally-World was very thin and looked like it would break very easily.

Go to a large hardware store and look for Professional grade lawn edging. Then use a table saw to cut the rounded bead off. You can also look for cove molding at the hardware store. This is used the base of a wall to go around the room. I don't know how this will hold up in extreme cold though. The lawn edging is very durable and cheap.

Paul, I have been wanting to put a new air dam on my '81 Scirocco, having lost it in parts to porcupine over the years, but I do not understand how you are attaching this lawn edging plastic. It sounds like a great, and low cost idea, but how do you get a right angle into the plastic to bolt it up into the lower pan?

That looks sweet as ****, but my cheepo OEM driveway scraper hits bottom on the freeway on a good dip- I can't imagine having three or four extra inches of plastic hanging low out front.
(I have only mildly de-tabbed my front struts, have a set of Eibach's waiting to go on and have to cringe every time I go through an intersection!)

You'll have even more problems when you try and put regular Taurus Eibach springs on your SHO too.

On the Gen 3 I just screw it to the existing spoiler using #10 x 1/2" black weather guard screws. They are hard to see. On my Gen 2 I cut the corners out of plastic battery jars to make some angles about 12" long and 1.5" deep. Attached this to the existing bumper cover then the edging to the plastic angles.

You may be able to find aluminum angle somewhere. The nice thing about plastic is it will give and not deform.
