My understanding is that if it's a safety-related recall that anyone who owns a recalled vehicle can take advantage of it.

My Ranger is affected as well. I wonder if I could take the Pumpkin in?

.....I wonder if they're talking about the actual cruise module on the ATX SHOs that keeps burning out and not allowing the driver to pull the shifter out of park until it's unplugged and a fuse replaced?

Will they only contact original owners, or everybody. I dont know how this works.
For recalls, they contact the current owner of any affected car; my guess is that they use the state registration records to track you down. I got a recall notice on my Explorer (for the seat back bolts), and there's no way Ford would have known about the sale--not only did I buy it used, but I also bought it at a Chrysler dealership.

seems to be only the A/T SHO's..... are the manual trannys affected i wonder?

Probably not. The MTX cars have a different cruise module that rarely has problems except the lil clip that holds the cable to the throttle body. The ATX cars have a common problem of the damn thing shorting out, causing some fuse or another to blow, not allowing the brake lights to operate, therefore not allowing the car to shift out of park.

It's located on the bottom of the MC.

They won't replace the switch unless it's bad only add an inline fuse. Better to get the upgraded part and fix it your self IMHO.

I hope your right. I was told only original owners will get the notice, but that wouldn't be very smart to do. I like to think FORD has enough knowledge to know that original owners don't keep their cars forever

How long should we wait to get the notices in the mail before we should contact the dealer ourselves? I haven't got a notice yet

I took my 93 sho up to ford last week for the recall i didn't get a notice yet but i just took it up there anyway and they said the parts weren't in yet for there recall and to call back next week.

Well today the ford dealership called me back and said they got the parts in and to bring it up there for service.

So i took it up there today and they said that the deactivation switch was leaking brake fluid and that contamination got in the fluid and that they are also going to have to replace a servo he said but they had to order the part and it will be in tomorrow.

I'm not sure what servo he's talking about i checked online and can't figure out what part he mean't it's probally something else and the service writer just said the wrong part but he said that it will be covered under the recall and to not worry.

The only servo i can find online at the parts store is the speed control servo but it has nothing to do with brake fluid and it's mounted on the shock tower so i'm not real sure.

But anyhow the dealerships around here have the part's in now and are going to cover other things that the switch messed. :)

I also have my SHO at the shop to fix the problem I had been having...fuel pump, btw....and they told me they disconnected the switch until they could get the part in. This was three weeks ago...a couple days ago, they told me they still don't have the parts for the cars, but that Ford already had the truck/suv one's shipped to dealers, and the car cc unit's were soon to follow, though it could be into the fourth quarter (i.e., december).

they did the same for my car. although they told me it would be up to 3 months till they get the parts. all they did was unplug the curise switch off the master cylinder and put tape on it.

Yeah they unplugged mine also last week since it was leaking brake fluid and could cause a fire but they have the part now now around here, one of the service writers said that they didn't and that taurus sho's weren't even in the recall but i just ignored him and went to the service writer i went to last week and he went in to the parts department to verify that they had them in stock.

They said they just got them in yesterday but only in very short supply like around 10 lol.

But like a said they also had to order something else since it was damaged in the process.

Ok so i picked up the car today they installed a new crusie deactivation switch and also they replaced the cruise control servo which i'm not sure why they replaced it but they said the recall shorted it out well it didn't cost me anything so that works for me.

Now hooray for cruise that works and not leaking brake fluid anymore lol.
