I tried a search and nothing came up, i was wondering if a late 90s explorers front brakes work on a gen 2 sho? they look similar to pbrs. I saw them in my shop today and i checked some things out but i couldnt really tell.

they actually looks almost the same as my rear baer big brake kit on my rear of my 2nd gen SHO. If thats the case i have a explorer a 97 that i just rolled so if you wants the brakes let me know. Or if any pics are needed just to help you out i can take some.

Have you seen the 4-wheel disc setup they put on the recent explorers? :oogle:

My folks picked up an '03 last year. I couldnt beleive how big the brakes are! :hail: Rolling on 16" wheels, Id say there was less than a 1/4 of an inch clearance between the calipers and the wheel.

yeah the brakes on m 97 look like the brakes that were on the gen 2 sho. There def not as big as I would think they would have been.

I will take a smaller vented disc over a solid large disk anytime. IIRC the rear disc is solid. I would also expect something that weighs 1000lbs more than the SHO to have larger better brakes.

So does that mean we think they would work? Im not looking so much at the rears but if those work too then why not? Has anyone done this? I want to find some good used brakes that are bigger than stock and bolt right up to a 94/95 knuckle. Im guessing that those later 90s model explorers used knuckles like 96+ taurii.

I doubt the knuckles will interchange since the bolt patterns for the wheels are different. Many upgrades are already available for the SHO that will outperform the explorer brakes.

And custom fabricating stuff to make explorer parts fit on the SHO is cheaper?
