Electric Door lock stopped working for me. Didnt know if it was a cable or the electronic actuator. I would see the lock twitch, but not go up or down. The whole mechanism was at the bottom of the door. It was not looking forward to trying to get it out till as space was tight. Turns out the actuator box is rivited to the door panel and the rivet finally gave out. You can see the rivet head when you open the door. Its down at the bottom in the corner.

I was able to push the old rivet out with the actuator still in the door. A washer and pop rivet sent me on my way. hopefully the smaller rivet I used will hold up to door slams and unlocks over time. Stupid problem took me 2 hours to fix, but then again all I would do with that 2 hours is browse the forum anyways.

The smaller one will break in about 6 months, leaving you in the same boat. I actually found the correct rivet, but I don't have a pop tool to accomodate it's size. :frown:

I had to replace my drivers side actuator - I searched all over town for a riveter that size. Couldn't find it. The parts guys at my dealership borrowed it from a mechanic when I went it and let me use it in the parking lot. Done deal - with the right rivet.

I just removed the whole bracket that held the actuator. Then with it oustide the car there was plenty of room to use a nut and bolt.

yes mine has a nut and bolt holding the actuators bracket inside the door. that is a lot of fun dealing with problems regarding the power locks! my passenger door would rarely unlock when anything was tried...rendering the passenger seat usless! i found that the actuator and latch mechanism were jamming, so i went to the wreckers and proceded to switch out the latch and actuator together...works good now.
